The Clients wanted the single storey house to be built with a combination of render, glass and timber, to maximise natural light and blend with the landscape.
The living room with a fully glazed gable and vaulted ceiling opens onto a sheltered terrace. Internally the living room, dining room and kitchen are separate areas but linked by arched openings to give a feeling of space and avoid unnecessary circulation areas. Three bedrooms, a small study and bathroom open off a short hall lit by sun pipes, the only circulation area.
The already mature garden helped give the impression that the house had been there for some time, though it has a contemporary feel both inside and out.
