With an ageing congregation of 25 folk, worshiping in cold damp, but still imposing space, Oban’s oldest church needed major refurbishment inside and out.
This classical hall church over a raised basement has been fully restored, the vestry renovated and the undercroft redesigned to give a usable hall, toilets, kitchen with a lift to the main floor. The turned stone balusters and steps of the perron forestair were repaired, the roof re-slated and insulated. Three cast iron and twelve, badly decayed zinc cames windows were skilfully restored.
A warm welcoming church now has a large congregation and a well used building.
