Moving from the south east of England and returning home to Scotland, our Clients want to house that was small enough to live in, large enough for their many visitors, have study and studio space and use renewables for heating and hot water.
The flat open site with panoramic views in all directions achieved all of these goals. The ground floor has a boot/utility room where the dogs can dry off; the kitchen/dining room has views to the east over a small loch, and to the north; the living room with its woodburning stove opens in to a sitoutterie on the south gable.
The upper hall bridge, leads to a vaulted artists studio that benefits from natural light through roof windows. The French doors open giving inspirational views to the west. Two bedrooms and an office look out over the loch. From anywhere in the house there are glimpses or full views of the surrounding countryside.
The house is heated by a woodchip boiler and under floor heating. This combined with high insulation levels keeps running costs low and comfort levels high.
