The house was designed to sit into the steeply sloping site and take advantage of the views to the north and west.
On arrival the house appears to be a traditional timber clad cottage, but the change in level from the hall opens into a vaulted living/dining/kitchen, glazed on three sides. The roof overhangs a deck that runs around the house giving sheltered external spaces.
Underfloor heating fuelled by a GSHP, heat recovery and high levels of insulation help to minimise running costs. The owners did much of the internal building work and all the internal fit-out, themselves.
